Me&Team user manual
Me&Team shows your team's work on every new tab in Chrome. This guide covers installing the test version, getting started, and everyday use.
1. Install the extension
The test version comes as a zip file, for example
extension-0.1.1-chrome.zip. Chrome only installs packaged
.crx files from the Chrome Web Store, so testers load the folder directly. It
takes about a minute.
-
Unzip the file into a folder you will keep, for example
Documents\meandteam. Don't delete this folder later: Chrome runs the extension from it. - Open Chrome and type
chrome://extensionsin the address bar. - Turn on Developer mode (switch at the top right).
-
Click Load unpacked and choose the folder from step 1 (the one that
contains
manifest.json). - Open a new tab. If Chrome asks whether to keep the new New Tab page, choose Keep it.
Updating to a newer test version
Unzip the new version over the same folder, then click the round
reload arrow on the Me&Team card in chrome://extensions.
2. Get started
The first time you open a new tab you see three choices.
| If you… | Choose | You need |
|---|---|---|
| are the first person from your team | New to Me&Team? Create a company | Company name, your name, email, a password of at least 12 characters. You become the company's admin. |
| were invited by a colleague | Have an invite code? Join your team | The invite code they sent you, your name, a new password. Codes work once and expire after 7 days. |
| already have an account | Sign in | Your email and password. |
3. Your New Tab
Every new tab shows two short lists. It's a glance, not a workspace: the most urgent work is always at the top.
- Assigned to me: work you have accepted and not finished.
- Assigned by me: work you gave to others. The letters (for example RV) are the person's initials.
- Each list shows up to 5 tasks. "+ N more" opens the Dashboard with the rest.
Reading a row
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| P1 … P5 | Priority. P1 is the most important. P1 and P2 are shown in bold. |
| Bar length and % | How much of the work is done. |
| Bar colour | Is it on track for its due date? on track · slightly behind · clearly behind · seriously behind or overdue. Important tasks (P1) turn orange sooner than P5 tasks. |
| Small red dot | The due date has passed. |
The page opens instantly from a saved copy and then refreshes quietly. If you're offline, you'll see "last updated … ago" at the bottom.
4. Update your progress
Click a task under Assigned to me, or the Quick update button, to update in a few seconds without leaving the tab.
- Move the slider to the new percentage. It can only go up; progress is never reduced by hand.
- Write what you got done (at least 10 characters). Every update needs a comment, so your manager sees real work, not just numbers.
- Click Save. The bar moves and the panel stays open for your next task. Press Esc to close.
5. The Dashboard
Click Dashboard on the New Tab for the full view. It opens in its own tab.
My work
- Offers waiting for you: work someone wants to give you, with your share (for example 60%). Click Accept or Decline (you can give a reason).
- In progress: your accepted work. Click Update to add progress here too.
- Completed: work you finished.
Tasks and the task page
Tasks lists the tasks you're on (admins and managers see all company tasks). Filter by open, overdue, blocked, completed or all. Click a task to open its page:
- Ultimate goal: what "done" looks like.
- Shares: who owns which percentage and how far each person is. The task's total progress is calculated from these.
- Discussion: comment on the task.
- Timeline: every change, who made it and when (old value → new value).
Delegate part of your work
On a task where you have an accepted share, click Delegate. You create a child task with its own goal and assign parts of it to colleagues. Your own progress is then calculated from the child task automatically, and you manage it.
6. For admins and managers
Create a task
- Dashboard → Tasks → New task.
- Enter a title and the Ultimate goal: one item per line, links allowed (up to 5). Add a priority, due date and description if you like.
- Leave Publish now ticked, or untick it to save a draft nobody else sees yet.
Assign shares
On the task page, choose a person and a share (%), then click Assign. Shares can add up to 100%. The person sees an offer in My work and accepts or declines it.
Other actions on a task
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Request revision | Sends finished work back. You choose the percentage it goes back to and say what needs to change. |
| Revoke | Takes a share away from someone (with a reason). The share becomes free again. |
| Block / Unblock | Pauses a task with a reason, then continues it. |
| Cancel task | Stops a task for good (with a reason). This can't be undone. |
| Edit details | Change title, goal, priority, due date or description. Every change is kept in the timeline. |
Invite your team
- Dashboard → Team.
- Enter the person's email and role (employee, manager or, for admins, admin) and click Create invite.
- Copy the invite code and send it to them, together with the zip file and this manual. They choose Join your team on the New Tab.
Pending invites are listed below the form; click Revoke to cancel one.
7. Help and privacy
- Sign out: the small link at the bottom of the New Tab, or at the top right of the Dashboard. Signing out removes your saved data from this browser.
- Forgot your password? On the sign-in screen click Forgot password?, enter your email and click Send reset link. Open the link in the email (it works once, for 1 hour), choose a new password, then sign in again. Check your spam folder if the email doesn't arrive.

The extension only talks to
api.meand.team. It doesn't read your browsing or other tabs. Read the privacy policy. - Questions or problems: privacy@meand.team.
